TBRI Caregiver Training Module 7.2

TBRI® Correcting Principles – Proactive Strategies Part 2

In Module 7, parents will explore the TBRI® Correcting Principles with a focus on Proactive Strategies—teaching children the skills they need before challenging moments arise. Parents will learn to shift from viewing difficult behavior as willful disobedience to recognizing it as communication of an underlying need, allowing them to respond with curiosity, connection, and support rather than punishment or control. The module introduces practical strategies for sharing power, giving children a voice, offering choices and compromises, using behavioral scripts, and teaching Life Value Terms. Through intentional practice during calm moments, parents can help children strengthen self-regulation, problem-solving, decision-making, and healthy communication skills while building felt-safety, trust, and connection. The goal is not simply compliance, but lasting behavior change and helping children develop healthier ways to express and meet their needs.
