Emergency Shelter

Youth who come to Vera Lloyd for emergency shelter care live in Barton, Pettus or Trimble homes. Typically, we serve 75 youth in emergency shelter. They may stay up to 45 days, but the average is 20 to 25 days. During this time, we are working with caseworkers, youth, family and other providers to determine the best placement for the youth. They may stay at Vera Lloyd in long-term care if space is available, be reunified with a family member, or move to a foster home or child-care provider.
