LAURENCE E. SCHMIDT CENTER
"...I came that they might have life, and have it abundantly." John 10:10b
The Mission: To provide confidential, compassionate care to people seeking emotional, behavioral and spiritual healing and wholeness. The center is dedicated primarily to the needs of clergy and their families, but its programs and services are open to everyone.
The Laurence E. Schmidt Center is under the direction of Rev. Rebecca M. Spooner, LAC, PLLC, and is a safe, professional and confidential place where ministry of all denominations can find support and individual care for themselves and their families. It is a place of rejuvenation, restoration and renewal. Every therapist employed by the center has a professional counseling license, is affiliated with a Christian denomination, and is particularly sensitive to the needs of ministers and their families.
Ad judicatories and congregations may covenant with the center for a per-member fee that guarantees each of their members three free sessions per year. Contact Rev. Spooner for details.
The center’s director, Rev. Rebecca M. Spooner LAC, is an ordained Presbyterian minister and a licensed psychotherapist. She has a B.A. in Biblical and Religious Studies from King College, a M.Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary and a M.S. in Counseling from the University of Central Arkansas. She has served as a solo pastor in small rural congregations and on staff of larger suburban churches. She has served as the director of the Schmidt Center since 2006.
